Mr. Flannels & Tweed
Lawyer & Menswear Enthusiast.
On a sunny autumn day, Baltzar caught up with our dear friend Andreas Klow a.k.a Mr Flannels and Tweeds. That he is one of the fastest growing names in classic menswear comes as no surprise; with the first glimpse, you understand that this guy knows one or two things about tailoring.
Almost as frequently as we see him post well-curated looks on his Instagram account, he visits our Swedish store, Engelska Herr, in Malmö. Today was no exception, so we donned our coats and sunglasses and took a stroll.
The question of the day: how do you define yourself? Andreas promptly answers: I am a lawyer with a great interest in photography and classic menswear.
The second part is no understatement; for a long time he worked in the shadows as an active member of the American online magazine Styleforum. It was not until 2016 that he combined his passion for photography and started his own Instagram account. He quickly attracted attention for his ability to portray style icons at Pitti Uomo in Florence and since then things have moved fast.
Andreas Klow is now, together with Aleksjj, planning his first local menswear trunk show which will be in Malmö, and which will bring together some of Sweden’s best menswear brands. And all this has been achieved while balancing life as a practising lawyer. Baltzar is impressed.
Exploiting his knowledge we ask him for his take on our autumn menswear collection. Here are his five top picks.
Andreas Klow's Autumn Essentials:
1. The Coat
Polo coat by Caruso. A beautiful navy herringbone fabric, double breasted, patch pockets. A collar you can fold up for protection. Longer than overcoats from previous seasons. Belted back and beautiful buttoned centre back vent so that you can use it on your bike too.
Just give it to me.
2. The Second Skin
Brown peccary gloves by Hestra. This pair is unlined for the beginning of the cold season. Add a lined pair for when the temperature drops. I have a few pairs and can vouch for how beautifully peccary ages. I don’t yet have a brown pair like these but plan to change that.
3. The Cover
The umbrella. Winters in the south of Sweden equal rain. Lots of rain. A well-made umbrella is an essential item and a great accessory.
All Maglia Francesco umbrellas are made in their workshop in Milan. Through six generations they have been replicating true Italian craftsmanship.
4. The Eyewear
Sunglasses by TBD Eyewear. When the rain stops the sun comes out from time to time. A good pair of shades is then essential. This pair will protect your eyes and change your appearance from a good guy to an assassin!
5. The Scent
The four items above work well together; to round it off you need a perfume to match. My new favourite is Egypt by Eight & Bob. It simply can’t be described in words.
